I am glad to share that I interviewed with State Street for their Platform Engineer - Intern, and I could make it. This article includes a description of each round of interviews and the kind of questions you may expect from them. So, if you are about to appear or are preparing to appear for such a role in the future, give it a read!

The Job Expectation

It is very important to understand the job role because it tells you about what the company is expecting from your candidacy.

My Experience

State Street visited our campus for Platform Engineer and the eligibility criteria were 6.0 or above CGPA in B. Tech and no backlogs.

Round 1: Online Assessment Test

The online assessment test included 5 sections which were Verbal, Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Technical MCQ’s and coding. Time management was the key as we have to do 2 coding questions in 10 mins. The level of the question was of leetcode easy level.

60 students out of 647 could make it to the next round and I was one of them.

Round 2: Technical Interview

Right after shortlisting, we received mail from a recruiter for the next technical round interview which was scheduled one day after the OAT. The technical interviewer was Vice President who had vast working experience in the domain. He began by asking me questions about my resume, project, and publication. Then he asked me some basic questions. Then he gave me 1 coding problem to solve on the online compiler while screen sharing. Then he asked me about my knowledge of the cloud. Then he asked some questions from Java and Python. He asked me about the role and then provided an overview of the role. This round lasted for about an hour.

Luckily, I could make it to the next round.

Round 3: Telephonic HR Interview

Right before the end of the technical interview, the interviewer told me that he is pushing my profile ahead for an HR interview (lucky guy, anxiety nahi ho rahi thi). Then I received a call from HR. She then briefly explained me about her and the role. Then she started giving me situations based 4–5 questions and I was able to satisfy her with my answers. This round lasted for 20 mins.

Results were announced a day after the process ended and luckily I could make it but later I rejected the offer.

My key takeaways:

  1. Do not hesitate to ask anything to the interviewer if you are not clear about the question he asked.
  2. Should have in-depth knowledge of the things mentioned in the resume.
  3. Speak slowly (as I speak with a frequency of 2x) and fluently.
  4. Consider rejection as part of learning as it’s gonna help you in other interviews.
  5. Ask questions to the interviewer about the company and the role (which tells that you are much excited to work in the company).

Do let me know if this helped you and also comment down if there’s any query that I can help you with. I wish you all the best!
